Performance at Ens earns warm applause
'Solid unity with pleasant freshness'
Almere (NL), Sat, 15. Mar 2014Critic Wouter Ruifrok writes favourably on performance at the Museumkerk in Schokland.

On Sunday February 2nd 2014 the Erasmus Trio once again proved themselves to be worthy of their traditional place in the Chamber Music Series of the Schokland Museum, as is evident from the review in De Noordoostpolder by critic Wouter Ruifrok. The programme consisted of two Trio's by Haydn and compositions by Frank Bridge and Edvard Grieg. Ruifrok was especially pleased by the performance of Haydn's masterly 'Zigeunertrio', sparkingly played with lively rubati, carefully individually as well as together cooperating voices and melodious romanticism. The Trio appeared to be equally at home with the romanticism of Frank Bridge. The Saltarello was very tastefully done, with a good balance between melodiousness and rhythm. The same could be said of the performance of Grieg's Norwegian Dances, where much attention was given to the melancholy side of the music. “The Erasmus forms a solid unity without ever displaying routine and performing with a pleasant musical freshness.”
